Can I drive on it?

Our reinforced concrete mix design is extremely strong. Independent test results show our cement borders to be as strong as 4000psi or more. A Better Edge should withstand most anything from commercial riding mowers to string trimmers.

We do not recommend driving a vehicle over our typical garden edging. However, we do have concrete curbing available for parking lots and driveways.

Is this maintenance free?

Our Stamped Concrete Edging offers a virtually maintenance free lifespan. The colors we use are UV stable, meaning they will not fade. Thus, there will be no need to stain or paint your edging, ever. It is a good idea to seal every type of concrete you have once every few years to keep the elements out. Our non-yellowing, clear concrete sealer is available for purchase if you feel the need to seal your edging.

What is this white stuff?

Efflorescence is a salty looking mineral deposit. This is often called "new construction bloom" as, with time, the appearence of efflorescence will dissipate. Minerals from the soil underneath your concrete edging may be seeping to the surface and 'depositing' themselves. Cold and wet weather will likely bring about efflorescence more often as wetness has a much longer evaporation time and minerals likewise deposit easier. Snow that sits on the edging for an extended period of time may also deposit minerals from the air as it dries.

Do not worry, some light brushing with a stiff nylon brush will likely remove much of the mineral deposit. If the appearence of efflorescence seems excessive, call us. (719) 233-3343 We are always here to help.
