« Concrete Curbing? | Concrete Garden Edging »

Why is A Better Edge an Effective "Root barrier"

We pour our cement edging in place at your home. The result is one continual piece of concrete rather than individual sections where grass and weeds may encroach into your flower beds.

We've strived hard for six seasons to develop an artistic and natural look that our clients have come to know and enjoy. However, the functionality is not lost on the warmth of the design. Our continuous concrete edging aids in mowing and trimming as well as in keeping your landscape elements where they should be.

The continuous natrue of our poured in place cement, helps to keep grass from encroaching into flowerbeds and planters by traveling through the concrete. However, we must also get below the root in order to help keep grass from traveling under the edging. This is one of several reasons why we fill our trenches with concrete by providing a more substantial (thicker) amount of cement rather than place a non-structural crushed rock (small amounts of road base, etc.) under a tiny 'curb'.

Our edging goes into the ground at the root level rather than sitting on top of a bed of sand/gravel which would let grass grow through in short order.
